Triage services are a way to channel demand for healthcare services to an appropriately trained clinician or healthcare professional. Our nurses have had extensive external and internal training and work closely with the GP’s. We ask that all patients are assessed with the nurse. By taking an initial history, assessing need and recording vital information, nurse led triage enables the doctor to spend more time taking care of patients and managing more complex problems. The nurses are trained to deal with all minor illness, contraception, including IUD and implant fittings and removals, travel health and immunisations, child immunisations, mental health checks, chronic disease management including diabetic and cardiovascular checks and asthma management.
Any patient who needs to see a doctor will be referred or be advised to make a routine appointment, whichever is the most appropriate.
Consider our information on dealing with common illnesses.
Submit an online consultation
If you would like an online consultation with us, this can be done if you submit an “eConsult”. A doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional will respond giving you advice, signposting, recommend an investigation or treatment about the condition you are contacting us about; It is not meant for those who know that they want or need to be seen face to face. For this, please contact us, to book an appointment in the usual way (see above).
eConsults should be viewed as being a consultation and, without adequate information, we may have to reject them or ask you to contact reception to book an appointment.
Tips
- Please choose the most appropriate symptom as this will prompt the relevant and specific
questions. - Please answer the questions as fully as possible as this will enable us to give you the best response.
- Please do not include more than one problem on the same eConsult.
- Where you want us to advise you on something you are seeing, please upload photos; these need to be clear and not blurry. Please do not attach photos of intimate parts of your anatomy. You will need to be seen face to face in this instance.
Enhanced access
Through our partnership with Brighton and Hove Federation, patients now have access to additional appointments from 6:30pm to 8pm weekdays and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
Access to these clinics is by contacting the surgery in the normal way. These appointments will be held at a different location to the surgery and are subject to availability.
Consent for us to share your medical records must be given to us when booking one of these appointments – this is necessary as your records will need to be accessed by a clinician who is not your usual GP, within the extended hours service. Your information will not be accessed or shared in any other manner.
If you feel you need to book one of these appointments, please ask a receptionist about the EHS when booking an appointment with us. Please note, you won’t be able to see your own GP or nurse practitioner.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- use the GP online system: Patient Services
- phone us on 01273 249049 during opening times

Home visits
These are for emergencies and are only undertaken for medical reasons, the housebound or the terminally ill. A request for a visit will be discussed with you and it may be decided that you should attend the surgery. Please note, distance or lack of finance is not an acceptable reason for a home visit.
Over 75 home visits
If you are over 75 and have not seen your GP in the last 3 years, a home visit may be arranged to assess your medical needs.
